Momentum Metropolitan appoints Dumo Mbethe as Executive Director to the Board

Johannesburg - Momentum Metropolitan is pleased to announce the appointment of Dumo Mbethe as Executive Director to the Momentum Metropolitan Board.

Mbethe is a seasoned executive and business leader with more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. He joined Momentum Metropolitan in January 2017 as COO of the Africa and Asia business and became CEO of the Africa business in October 2017. In September 2019, he was appointed as CEO of the Momentum Corporate business, a position he continues to hold.

He has ample experience of serving on boards, including country-level boards in Momentum Metropolitan Africa and as Non-executive Director on the Metropolitan International Holdings and Metropolitan International Support boards. He is an existing member of Momentum Metropolitan's Fair Practices Committee and is also a member of the Actuarial Governance Board, which oversees the professional conduct of actuaries in South Africa.

A qualified Chartered Accountant, Mbethe has also completed the Advanced Management Programme (AMP) from Harvard Business School. He holds a BCom (accounting and information systems) from WITS, a BCom Honours from UKZN and is a member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA).

Mbethe's personal motto, "Just be your best self," reflects his belief in authenticity and bringing one's true self to the workplace. "Too often we hold back on being our true selves in the workplace and then the office misses out on the magic we could bring." His dynamic background, both professionally and personally, aligns with Momentum Metropolitan's commitment to diverse and impactful leadership. The Board is confident that this appointment will balance the executive governance support to the Board.
